Short description
Amiga Driver for Pockect Ethernet adapter
Proposed name
pea.device
Full description
An Amiga device driver for the Linksys Pocket Ethenet Adapter (TM). The adapter plugs into a standard PC Parallel port and provides both 10BaseTand thin Coax ports. It will autosense a standard or enhanced parallel port on the PC and adjust itself accordingly. I would guess that it could work with a standard Amiga parallel port, but my hardware knowledge is limited. It might require an additional adapter to modify the pin-out for an Amiga port. If it could be made to work, it would open up networking possibilites to the small box Amigas that don't have PCMCIA ports. Info on the adapter can be found at: http://www.linksys.com/products/10baset/peaepp.htm

Development history
7/11/1997 - I'm still waiting for getting to money to buy such adapter. I do have the specs of the device and it's interface waiting on my desk. If there's anybody who's willing to loan it to me or pass it in exchange of the device itself when I finish please let me know through email.

11/199/1997 - Contacted Linksys for drivers information. They have directed me to a location and we'll get the source code needed. Also contacted CDW (www.cdw.com) and asked for the price of 1 unit, listed from them at 129.99$ US. I'll order one soon.

01/21/1998 - Just order a Pocket Ethernet Adapter from www.cdw.com for 129.99 $ US using the FedEX Priority Overnight. As soon as this device will be in my end work will start to write a SANA-II device. As you know I've already have the source code so START ORDERING YOURS and register to me for Beta-Testing.

01/26/1998 - I've received my Pocket Ethernet Adapter Plus and I'm starting writing that software so that we can have the cheapest Ethernet solution for our Amiga.

03/18/1998 - After investigation it seems like the Amiga default parallel port cannot support that device. Unless ICOA or Amiga inc. show me how I can control the strobe or exactly how it is handled by the parallel.device I'm stuck on this project. I'm gonna attempt a request and see. Also if somebody have any contact with other parallel port manufacturer I could try to wrote the driver for this cards.
