Short description
Port (or freely adapt) Destruct-o-Match
Proposed name
Match and Destroy? (Just kidding)

The idea comes from a Flash game on the web, so if you've got access to a browser with Flash plugged in, I guess the best way to describe it is to show you. Jump to http://www.neopets.com/games/destructomatch.phtml and come back in a couple of days when you have finished playing (it's kind of addictive). Maybe you can come up with a better description than this one: The screen fills with blocks of different colours -in the original (?) they have windows and doors to suggest they are part of a big building. Your task, should you accept it, is to knock down as much as possible of the building by knocking out adjacent blocks of the same colour. (If, for instance, two blue blocks are next to each other - horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally - you can knock them both out by clicking one of them.) I haven't fully explored the scoring system yet but doing more blocks in one go gives more points than doing them two by two. Anyway, once you have knocked a hole in the building the blocks above it will slide down, rearranging the adjacencies (is that a word?) above the hole. The challence lies in figuring out which clusters to do first because taking out a cluster at the bottom may break up a big cluster at the top. When a row is cleared the ones on either side will slide together possibly creating new pairs too. A couple of details I particularly like are: 1) You don't have to clear the whole level, just reach a certain score to go on (In fact this is a really good idea because the odds for ending up with two blocks of one colour are pretty slim). 2) When you reach the target score you don't HAVE to go on, you just get a "Next Level" button you can use any time you want. So you can either move on at once or stay a bit and try to squeeze a few more points out of the current pile of rubble. The higher levels are similar only with more colours which makes it a bit harder to make matches. Presumably you will eventually reach a level which has so many colours there won't be any matches at all. ;-) ---- A final remark which does not really have anything todo with the g
