Short description
An HTML-style Workbench Screen
Proposed name
HTML Workbench
Full description
Provide an HTML-style workbench with frames and easy access to both directories and files as well as internet sites. Also, in a frame, provide access to files via a user-modifiable database, so files can be listed by catagory - music, graphics, etc. - not just by directory or partition. A taskbar and popup menu selection would also be nice.

I think that this is not a good idea if the purpose behind this is to reproduce the anoying and resource eater "Active Desktop". I think that this is a waste of time.

Sorta like Windows 98 (Memphis)? It's not a bad idea though. I think you could do it just with a DOS handler -- something like "HTML:". Then, you use any Web Browser and point it at a local file HTML:. HTML: handler then returns HTML source created dynamically, with icons and directory listings and everything. The next step would be a web browser that was designed for this, with some extra functionality. A smarter icon.datatype could have drag and drop ability, run applications, etc.
